18 Hands is redefining community development for adults with disabilities and their families. Whether it is creating job opportunities, organizing social events, or building community, it is all centered on the heartfelt connections between people and their pets. Every treat we bake is a small bridge, bringing humans and dogs closer together through shared moments of joy. In this way, we’re not just baking dog cookies—we’re creating opportunities for compassion and belonging, highlighting the beautiful bond between people and their canine companions while championing inclusivity for all.
WHERE WE ARE HEADED
Looking ahead, 18 Hands is excited to expand our mission beyond the bakery to create a vibrant community hub for both people and pups. Our vision includes developing an indoor dog park where dogs can play year-round, opening a cozy coffee shop for friends and neighbors to gather, and offering a variety of fun dog merchandise. We also hope to build an intentional residential community for adults with disabilities, providing even more opportunities for growth, connection, and independence. With each new step, we’re committed to fostering inclusion, joy, and meaningful experiences for everyone who walks through our doors — whether they have two legs or four.
The Clubhouse
An inclusive social space centered around the joy and companionship of dogs. An indoor park will offer socialization for dogs while human companions enjoy a variety of beverages and homemade treats at the bakery. Together, we will create a place to build friendships, where everyone - humans and dogs alike - feels at home.
Dog Supplies
Expanding from dog cookies to a broader range of merchandise - including toys, clothing, and supplies - will open up new and diverse job opportunities for our community. As we grow, 18 Hands will be able to include more voices, talents, and stories in our mission, fostering greater inclusion and building a stronger, more vibrant community for everyone involved.
Housing
Constructing an inclusive community begins with bringing individuals together in a supportive and empowering environment. Our housing will be designed to foster both independence and a strong sense of belonging, where each resident is encouraged to make their own choices and build meaningful connections.
